Q: Dryer Sheets – what’s the deal?

A: Mountain Green dryer sheets aren’t like most conventional dryer sheets you may have seen. For starters, they are a moist cloth. Unlike “dry” dryer sheets which can include clay and formaldehyde and which utilize the heat of the dryer to melt softening agents like tallow into your clothes (ew), our damp dryer sheet’s plant based liquid fabric softener is absorbed by your damp clothes as they get tossed around. Here are some tips to make sure you get the most of your dryer sheets:

  1. Don’t over-dry your clothes. Conventional dryer sheets are packed with chemicals so you can dry your clothes for the better part of a century before static returns. Our natural softeners don’t have that ability…or those chemicals. So save on your electric bill and reduce static build up by only drying your clothes until they are just dry.
  2. Make sure you snap it shut! If you leave your dryer sheet canister open the sheets can dry out leaving you with a less-than-effective product. Once you tear off a sheet, tuck the start of the new sheet down so that the lid can snap completely shut.
  3. It’s okay to use more than one. Unlike tallow (rendered animal fat) based dryer sheets, our plant based formula won’t build up on clothes. Instead, it rinses out of your clothes and linens in the next wash. So, if you want to toss an extra dryer sheet in- say for a large load of super fluffy bath towels- go for it.
  4. Reduce, Recycle, Reuse. So now you’ve reduced your chemical exposure, you can recycle the canister, but what about the dryer sheet once the clothes are dry? Hopefully you can see where this is going…you can reuse it! While our microfiber cloth isn’t good for another spin through the dryer, it is great for dusting! It is super soft and it attracts dust particles and you’ve already got it on hand, no purchase necessary!
